1回JBCF袋井・掛川ロードレース

開催地：静岡県袋井市 小笠山総合運動公園エコパ 特設コ–ス（6km）

出場：横矢（29位）エリック（34位）水野（45位）瀬戸口（DNF）若月（DNF）
第二戦は静岡県エコパスタジアムの周りを使ったロードレース。スイッチバックやマンホール、進入禁止のポールを抜いた障害物などが多くあり難しいコース。そして大雨、強風。レース開始後2周か3周。時間にして30分ほどでレースが決まるのは誰の目にも明らか。最初から全開で出し惜しみなく前へ前へ進むことだけを話し合いスタート。リアルスタートが切られた瞬間から1列棒状が続く。エリック水野瀬戸口横矢若月の順で走行。しかし既に落車やハイペースにより集団は粉々になりつつある。3周目には先頭集団、第2集団、第3集団の構図に。どの集団も等間隔を保ち走行。集団で走るにはどの集団も20名程が限界であり、タイム差は均衡を保つ。第2集団にエリック、瀬戸口、横矢が入り前とのの合流を試みるが最後まで追い付くことはなく決着。エリックは途中前に合流しようとするが追い切れず。ここで力を使い第3集団へ。瀬戸口はパンクでDNFとなった。水野は最初こそ前で展開していたものの第3集団でフィニッシュ。前へ多くの選手を送り込んだブリヂストン（BS）、シマノが先頭集団を牽引しBSの今村選手、窪木選手がワンツーフィニッシュ。3位にシマノの中井選手が入った。チーム最高位は横矢選手の29位であった。
監督談6㎞のサーキットに無数のコーナー障害物がありスキルも多く求められるコースであった。やはりBS、シマノが主導権を握り20分ほどで勝負できる集団に絞り上げていた。エリック、横矢、瀬戸口、水野は先頭手段に入れる可能性があったが一歩足りず。力がある選手はバラバラになる集団を安全に軽々とパスしていき、力のない選手はコーナーを突っ込んだり中切れを起こしたり。前者になれるようトレーニングに励むのみである。明日は132㎞と今日の倍ほどの距離である。しかし最初の速さはあまり変わらない可能性があるのでしっかりと準備、修正して臨みたい。
The second round took place on a difficult course around the Shizuoka Ecopa Stadium, which included switchbacks, manhole covers, and poles indicating no entry. The race was also challenged by heavy rain and strong winds. The outcome of the race was determined within about 30 minutes after the start, as it was clear that the key was to go all out and push forward from the beginning, without holding back. The race started with a single file and Eric, Mizuno, Setoguchi, Yokoya, and Wakatsuki were in that order. However, the group was already falling apart due to high speed and crashes. By the third lap, the formation had turned into three groups: the leading group, the second group, and the third group. Each group maintained an equal distance, and each group had about 20 riders at most to keep riding as a group. The time differences between the groups were balanced. Eric, Setoguchi, and Yokoya tried to catch up with the leading group by entering the second group, but they failed to catch up until the end. Eric tried to catch up with the leading group halfway through, but couldn't keep up. He then used up his energy to join the third group. Setoguchi had to drop out due to a puncture, while Mizuno finished in the third group after initially riding in the front. Bridgestone (BS) and Shimano sent many riders to the front and led the leading group. BS's Imamura and Kuboki finished in first and second place respectively, with Shimano's Nakai coming in third. The highest placing member of the team was Yokoya in 29th place.
According to the coach, the 6km course had numerous corners and obstacles, and required a high level of skill. BS and Shimano had taken the lead and focused on reducing the number of riders in the group to about 20, which made it possible to compete in the race within about 20 minutes. Eric, Yokoya, Setoguchi, and Mizuno had the potential to enter the leading group, but fell just short. Stronger riders easily passed the scattered group safely, while weaker riders crashed into corners or got dropped from the group. To become the former, they needed to continue training hard. Tomorrow's race will be twice the distance of today's, at 132km. However, the initial speed may not change much, so they need to prepare and make adjustments accordingly.

2023年Jプロツアー第4戦第2回JBCF袋井・掛川ロードレース

出場：エリック（28位）横矢（DNF）水野（DNF）瀬戸口（DNF）若月（DNF）
昨日と同じコースを132㎞で争われた第4戦。前で前で展開しなければ厳しいことは前日の結果からもわかる。最初30分が今日もきついから前々で展開しようとの共通認識を持ってスタートへ。パレードが終わりリアルスタートが切られると税所の抜け出しであっさりと逃げが決まってしまう。そこに横矢が入りすぐに2分ほどの差が開く。メイン集団はスローダウンしシマノのコントロールがしばらく続く。しかしタイム差が拡大傾向にあったためブリヂストン（BS）にコントロールが変わった途端タイム差は急速に縮みだす。一気に40秒差まで詰める過程の中で集団は粉々になりここで水野、若月が遅れだす。瀬戸口も粘るが徐々に遅れていく。メイン集団にはエリックが残り後半戦へ。コントロールは逃げ集団に一人も乗せていないキナンへと移る。（パンクで逃げ集団からドロップ）横矢が快調に飛ばして逃げるも90㎞付近でドロップしてしまい、エリックのアシストの為に集団を引くことに。逃げ集団とメイン集団の追いかけっこはラスト2周まで続く。ここまで粘ってきたエリック、過酷なコンディションも影響し補給を戻してしまう程疲労しているが最後まで粘り28位。横矢が乗っていた逃げはそのままゴールまで逃げる勝ち逃げとなった。優勝はBS今村選手2位にシマノ入部選手3位にマトリックス小林選手となった。
監督談過酷なコンディションの中の二日間が終わった。この時期の雨、難しいコースレイアウトで完走率はとても低くなった。そんな中横矢は逃げ集団でチャレンジし、エリックは日本での生活に順応し始めコンディションを高めている。瀬戸口ももう少しでベストパフォーマンスへ戻ると感じた。脚力があれば全て解決できるとも限らないのが機材スポーツである自転車競技。雨のテクニカルなコースでは機材の選択も重要になってくる。タイヤ、ブレーキ、サングラス、皮膚のプロテクション等々。もう一度その部分も真剣に考え少しでも勝率を高められるよう準備、アップデートを繰り返していきたい。次戦のJBCFは西日本クラシック。今回と同じようなコースであるので準備対策をして臨みたい。
The 4th round of the J Pro Tour took place on the same course as the previous day, covering a distance of 132km. The riders knew that they had to stay at the front of the pack to have a chance at winning. With this in mind, they started the race with the goal of establishing a strong position early on.
As the real start was signaled after the parade, a breakaway quickly formed at the Tax Office section of the course. Yokoya joined the breakaway and the gap quickly grew to two minutes. The main group slowed down and Shimano took control of the pace for a while. However, the time gap continued to widen, so Bridgestone took over control, and the gap rapidly closed, with the main group splintering in the process.
Mizuno and Wakatsuki fell behind, and Setoguchi gradually lost ground as well. Eric managed to stay with the main group and continue into the second half of the race. The control of the race then shifted to Kinan, who didn't have any riders in the breakaway due to a puncture.
Yokoya was flying solo in the breakaway but dropped off around the 90km mark, so Eric took over pulling the main group to assist his teammate. The pursuit between the breakaway and the main group continued until the final two laps. Eric had persevered until the end despite the grueling conditions and fatigue caused by the race, finishing 28th.
Yokoya maintained his lead in the breakaway and went on to win. BS Imamura took first place, Shimano's new recruit finished second, and Matrix's Kobayashi took third place.
In equipment sports like cycling, having strong legs alone may not be enough to solve all problems. The selection of equipment also becomes important on technical, rainy courses. Tires, brakes, sunglasses, skin protection, and more all play a role. We will continue to seriously consider these aspects and prepare and update our gear to increase our chances of winning.
The next race in the JBCF is the West Japan Classic, which has a similar course to this race. We want to approach it with the appropriate preparations and countermeasures.
